DUPE
full-length play
4F
Parker Davis, an emerging Black writer, is shocked to discover her likeness has been stolen and used as the author photo for the infamous urban book series, "Pastor Prey." Determined to reclaim her identity, she turns to her estranged identical twin sister, Poesía Whetstone, a powerhouse entertainment lawyer, for help in suing the publishing company.
The threat of a potential lawsuit prompts Feeling Grasso, the white publisher behind "Pastor Prey," to reach out to her estranged identical twin sister, Great Domanic, a renowned YA novelist, for an introduction to her lawyer . . . Poesía Whetstone.
With nods to Shakespeare's "Comedy of Errors," Rachel Dolezal, and Quan Millz, "Dupe" delves into themes of identity, authorship, and the complex bonds of sisterhood.
